Night/Style Lamb and Packet First Shoot

Today was my first day working in the pub for the event. Unfortunately not a lot of people turned up this evening, perhaps because it was the first time it was taking place. I only took a few photographs because they didn’t want me taking too many of the same people, which was understandable. I took down a Cannon 5D and a Cannon Flash.

For this image (above) I tilted the flash up to see what would happen, the DJ, one of the organisers involved seemed to like the idea to have different effects on the images. I like the dark bottom for this particular image, however I think it would vary in other cases and generally it would be better to keep the flash up.

For this picture (above) I accidentally kept the flash up which was a mistake, but I couldn’t tell them to pose again, so I just left it. It’s a blatant mistake though.
I love the quality and aesthetic of the 5D for this, but it’s heavy which was a bit annoying. I might take out the 550D next time cause it’s lighter and smaller which might be a bit more ideal seeing as I have to carry it around all the time.
Overall I’d say the shoot went mediocrely well. It was kind of awkward roaming an relatively empty space, soberly asking people who weren’t that hyper if they wanted their image taken. I assume that goes hand in hand with my maladroitness however. Well, I’ve confirmed my presence for next week and he expects a greater attendance so we’ll see how it goes.
